Fungal mycetoma: Madurella mycetomatis (HES staining)

Subcutaneous tissue. Abscess containing fungal grains. The grain correspond to a dense hyphal matt associated to a particular host reaction: the cement. The grain of M. mycetomatis mesures from 1 to 3 mm and presents an irregular brown pink surface with HES staining.
