Subcutaneous mycetoma: actinomycosic grain - macroscopic examination

The diagnosis of a mycetoma is mainly clinical, confirmed by the presence of grains in the pus from recently formed fistulae or from softened nodules. Dark red grains on the surface, sign the bacterial actinomycetic etiology.
