Histoplasmosis. Intracellular stage of Histoplasma capsulatum var. capsulatum (2-4 µm) are budding with a narrow base. The cytoplasm appears often retracted looking like a coloured crescent. The yeasts are surrounded by a clear halo, the cell wall is seen in negative.
