BAL: Aspergillus sp. - hyphae (direct microscopic examination - silver staining)

The silver staining colours the filament in black. Narrow septated hyphae with regular dichotomous branching (45° angle), characteristic of the genus Aspergillus. Aspergillus fumigatus is the main species responsible for aspergillosis.
