Lung: Pneumocystosis - histopathological examination (HES staining)

Spumous masses corresponding to the cysts and the trophozoites of Pneumocystis jirovecii mixed to macrophages and alveolar cells, obstructing the pulmonary alveolus. The epithelial layer presents cubic metaplasia. The wall of the alveoli is thickened.
