BAL: Pneumocystis jirovecii - cysts (monoclonal immuno staining)

An indirect immunofluorescence assay can identify Pneumocystis jirovecii cysts with specific monoclonal antibodies labelled with fluoresceine isothiocyanate. The parasitic elements are fluorescent yellow-green, monoclonal antibodies give a greater specificity to the technique.
