BAL: Pneumocystis jirovecii - cysts (silver staining)

The Gomori-Grocott silver staining doesn’t demonstrate all the stages of Pneumocystis jirovecii, only the cell wall of the cysts is stained dark brown. Empty thick walled cysts appear cup-shaped.
