Tinea capitis - ectothrix invasion (direct microscopy x1000)

France, Contet-Audonneau Nelly

The type of hair parasitism is endo-ectothrix, characteristic of a tinea capitis due to a Microsporum species. The 2 µm spores form a sheath around the hair. Inside, identical spores can be seen, more or less associated with some filaments.
