Epidermophyton floccosum - culture on malt extract agar medium

Epidermophyton floccosum develops rapidly on malt extract agar. Colonies are radially folded, flat, yellow brown to olive grey from the front and tan from the reverse. They become radially grooved by aging. Tufts of white sterile growth, pleomorphic, are common.
