Cerebrospinal fluid: Cryptococcus neoformans - encapsulated yeast [India ink]

Cryptococcus neoformans is one of the etiologic agents responsible for meningitis (here cryptococcosis). Direct examination of a drop of the sediment from a centrifuged cerebrospinal fluid mixed with a drop of India ink. Here the very thick capsule is detected as a light space surrounding the yeast cell.
