Oropharyngeal candidiasis in young infants - perleche, angular chelitis

Fissuration of the corners of the lips often covered by a white pseudo membrane which often crumbles and has the appearance of milk curd. Complete mouth opening is uneasy and painful. Angular chelitis is usually associated with thrush. A smear is necessary to confirm the diagnosis of candidiasis and identification of the Candida species.
