Black hairy tongue

Hypertrophy of the lingual papilla. Pigmentation is due to oxydation. Black hairy tongue can be observed during antibiotherapy or malignancies. Fungi are not concerned in the pathogenesis but colonizing yeast may -eventually -be isolated.
