Mycelium: pseudohyphae and yeasts (silver staining)

Staining the cell walls in dark brown with methenamine silver nitrate, the background is conterstained with light green. This Gomori-Grocott coloration technique is used to confirm a suspicion of mycosis using routine histologic staining techniques. Here, probably a Candida species (candidiasis).
